Friendship at a distance

I think that everyone has had a friend who lives far away from us. Very often he or she is actually our best friend.
Have you ever thought why it's like that? I have one friend who is very very far from me, and you know what?
That's good, because if we saw each other every day, I think we would become enemies.
I really love her, but sometimes when she is near me for too long I want to kill her... with love of course!
We have completely different characters but we can talk for hours and hours about anything. It's amazing.

I also have one friend in an opposite situation. When he is near me, everything is perfect, but when we are 70 kilometres apart,
it's hell. Not because of the distance, but because we become unable to talk without sarcasm or screaming.
I don't know why it is like that. But this relation is still very important to me. The most important in my life.
I know that if something ever happened, we would walk through fire for each other. Have you experienced something like that?
What kind of friendships do you have in your life?

Flatmates

Do you remember when you got accepted into a university and you started looking for your new flatmates and for an apartment?
How will it look like? I remember I was scared. I knew my flatmates Zuza and Paulina before, we are friends.
And that's why I was so scared: because if you live with someone, you get to know everything about that person.
You can't hide yourself. We've been living together for three years now and luckily we haven't had any big disputes so far.
Of course we sometimes argue, but it stays small. We call our flat “home”. I think it means a lot.
This year was the third time when we bought a Christmas tree together.
We then decorated it and treated ourselves to a glass of wine and some delicious food which we made together.
I really love my friends.

How about your flatmates?

Pregnancy

Do you know that moment when one of your friends tells you that you will be an aunt?
Do you know the happiness that comes with it? So imagine what happens when two of your friends tell you that you will be an aunt!!!
It's such grace and happiness that I can't describe it!
In 4 months I will be the best aunt that I can be to two little girls.
Łucja and Helena. I think that my friends chose really beautiful and traditional names for their children.
I don't understand people who name their children something like Jessica, Martin or Brian.
I think that by doing this they are hurting their children. I much prefer traditional names like Zofia, Maria, Franciszek or Antoni.
What do you think about names? Do you prefer traditional or “fancy” names”?
Do you believe that names carry a power?

Friendship

Some people believe that friendship between men and women doesn’t exist.
You’re wrong. I have a really good friend in my hometown-Leszno, and he’s a guy.
We know each other for around 7 years now. Almost every time I visit Leszno we see each other.
He’s like mega super awesome guy. And he can juggle 7 balls !!!
He has a girlfriend and she’s completely chill with the fact that we sometimes go to the cinema or McDonald’s together.
At the beginning I was afraid If she won’t be mad at me or something, but it’s good.
He told me that there’s no need to afraid of stuff like that. So that fact is confirmed.
Even my parents and especially my grandma like him . My grandma call him “Mr.Pretty”. That’s kind of funny.
One time I told them that now I have a boyfriend, They asked me if it’s Amadeusz...
I had to “disappoint” them, because it wasn’t him.I really love meeting with him.
Even after 7 years he’s still the same guy I met when I was 14. All that changed is his appearance, but that’s obvious.
We don’t make yourselves presents for Christmas, birthdays, names’ days.
We go out somewhere , eat some food and talk about anything we want.
Do we have arguments? We do. Sometimes the atmosphere can be very heavy. But it lasts for 2 hours at max.
For me this is one of the best friendships I’ve ever created.
We already planned that next time We’re gonna eat McDonald’s on my bill.
I just can’t wait for the next weekend to meet him !

Train, train, train

I love to travel by train. Ever since I can remember I was very happy to meet new people, hear their stories and spend time with them. But a few years ago something has changed. When you enter the train you can see almost every person with a phone.
It's a miracle if they respond to your “good morning”. I've been thinking why things are this way now.
Is this out of disregard for others, or maybe out of fear?
Maybe we are afraid of people, of new people. Maybe we hear a lot of bad news every day?
News about crimes, murders or assaults? Why did we stop wanting to meet new people and make new friendships?
Why did we start being afraid of the “new”? We are people who are open for the Europe.
People who want to travel and discover the world. How can we do this without talking with new people?

What do you think about talking to strangers on a train?
Do you do this? Do you like to listen to the stories of the people you meet?

After two weeks in bed everything must be well. Isn't it true? No.
After two weeks in bed I ended up in an admission room. But all the time that I was there, I had this song on my mind:

Do you remember it?

You know that feeling when someone appears in your life and everything is different, better?
Something is different with you, it's not like this anymore:

But rather it's something like:

There is a Polish proverb that says: if you have a mess in your room, then you have a mess in your life.
In my case it's true – so when my flatmate saw my room recently and she said „oooooh, you actually have a floor,
and oooooh, you have an armchair”, you know something is up :)

I came back to life! Well, almost, because I'm still sick, but I have to come back to the university.
When I saw all of the notes from Ola... that was something like:

But I promise – next time I will write about something good and funny!

Taco Hemingway

Hello again !!!
So for the last 10 days all I’ve been hearing about a guy. And this guy is called “Taco Hemingway” .
At first I was like “oh nice” and stuff. I’ve never heard that name, so I asked Amadeusz a few questions about that Taco.
And it started….

Today is 10th day since he started talking almost only about him. Feelings inside me are really complicated.
I’m a little annoyed that he has to mention that guy every time we talk. I couldn’t leave it like this.
I looked for Taco on YouTube. I don’t like hip-hop, so after listening to him for 10 seconds I got bored.
But I managed to listen the whole “Nostalgia”. ( that’s probably his most popular song) .
Then I decided to listen to another few of his song s, just to make sure .
To don’t be the type of human who judge something just by opinions of other people.
I still don’t like him. In my very own opinion based on my own researches of Mr. Hemigway.

But I must admit that there was one thing that impressed me- lyrics. Some of them have really deep meaning .
His metaphors are so subtle, and well constructed that it made me respect that guy.:D Even if I still don’t like him,
He has my respect. But don’t even bother to start a conversation with me if you plan on talking about Taco Hemingway.
I will just ignore you, and probably turn around and go my own way.
All I need to do now is to inform Amadeusz that we have a looooot more stuff to talk about than just music.

I’m going to meet him in around 7 days, so I’ll use that time for the preparations. Wish me luck !!!

Smartphones on our everyday life

Hi everyone!
Today I want to tell you about smartphones on our everyday life.

A few decades ago a mobile phone was something sophisticated, available only for the elites. At the beginning they were big and heavy with only one important function – a possibility of wireless connection between distant places. Over the years they started to become smaller, more functional and popular, and available for “average” people. In 2012 over 75% of the population had access to a mobile phone. Today we can see people with phones at work, in school, in public transport, almost everywhere – sometimes even with more than one phone. Having a smartphone has many advantages which make our life easier, but it also has some disadvantages. Nonetheless smartphones are still more and more popular today and they are an indispensable part of our everyday lives.

One of the main influences of smartphones on our lives is the fact that people don't need anything else, because today's phone is multifunctional. It can replace your TV, your computer, a book, notes or even a ticket machine. You have everything in one small electronic instrument. Moreover, people feel safer thanks to permanent access to the network and all the information available there. And let's not forget about constant contact with friends, thanks to which people perceive themselves as social butterflies and build their self-esteem.

On the other hand, we waste a lot of time on our smartphones, using applications instead of looking around and living our lives. Futhermore, it is connected with our impact (or rather lack of impact) on society. Sometimes people are sitting next to each other and instead of talking they are writing messages. We started to become antisocial, insensitive and disrespectful to each other. Moreover, phones were supposed to help us stay in contact with people. They give us a feeling of having lots of friends, but not in reality, because a lot of us are building relationships only virtually.

To sum up, the influence of smartphones on our everyday lives is huge. They have a lot of advantages, but also disadvantages. They make our life easier, but at the same time they complicate it. But above all, they now are an integral part of our life and we have to try to use them properly.
You know this moment, when you think: „This week, I will do everything!”?
You have a million things to do: run a blog, go to work, prepare translations, do tests,
write a bit of your bachelor's thesis, make presentations...
and then Ola comes with a runny nose and you just know that it won't be possible.
Two days later I was coughing, I had a runny nose, a fever, a headache etc.

I went to a family doctor and he told me to stay in bed for one week.
WHY? Why me? After a few days I was feeling a little better, but that was just silence before the storm.
I wanted to do so many things when I was in bed; maybe at least read a book, learn something...
but I had no strength. At least it was only for one week, right?
WRONG. I'm sick again and this is my second week in bed. I can't do anything. It's really distressing.
When I think about my backlog of things to do, I want to cry. I hope that all of you are healthy. I hug all of you!

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!
It's good to see you here again :)

I was in Edinburgh recently, and I visited three National Galleries of Scotland:
- Scottish National Gallery
- Scottish National Gallery of Moder Art
- Scottish National Portrait Gallery

I really like museums but I can't understand one thing – taking photos at the museum.
You know, sometimes you just want to have a photo of a piece of art
– but I saw one man who took a photo of every single painting in the gallery. And I asked myself why?

Where could you use those photos? Why would you do this? Why wouldn't you take a photo of yourself with this painting?
If me or my friend want a photo with a painting, we try to do something more or less special.
We try to be a part of this painting/sculpture or exhibit.
If a man at the painting is skating, do the same! But maybe without ice skates at the museum.
Strike the same pose as him! Why not? It's often very funny and you'll have a good souvenir and a fun memory!

It's evident that in these National Galleries I took a couple of photos with works of art,
especially with portraits, because I love them!
Below you can see my photos :)

Final exams

Hi! This is my 15 – last post in this term.
Sesja is coming. This time is hard for each students.
Last year I showed you my favourites videos about final exams.
Today I will show you my favourites gifs and photos!
Stay strong! Everything will be good!

Inspiration is everywhere

Do you know this feeling when you listen to a new song and it seems to be familiar?
It is normal, we all draws inspirations from each others, but sometimes it's not only music that feels familiar.
It's also dance, film or character. I will show you to videos which compare films and dance.

First of it is La La Land and other old musicals. Do you see an inspiration? Isn't it very similar ?

Second is Beyonce's dance in single ladies.

I understand an inspiration, but I think that this is a plagiarism, isn't it?
What do you think about it? Do you know other examples of such inspirations?

We can do everything but we do nothing

We can do everything but we do nothing.
It is said that our generation can do everything, we can study, work, travel at the same time... so why we don't do this?
Because we don't believe in yourself. We believe that everyone can do everything but not us, because we are weak, lazy and unworthy. THIS IS NOT TRUE!
If you want domething, you can reach for it. The question is what you really want?
You need to decide and realize your dreams.
It can be difficult but don't give up! Fight! Fight with you, with your weaknesses, your laziness and undervaluation.
We can change the world, we can discover countries, cultures and people. Don't hesitate, just go!

Collateral Beauty

Hi today I want to tell you about Collateral Beauty.

Collateral Beauty is a film with Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Edward Norton, Keira Knightely and Helen Mirren.
This a story of man named Howard. He is a businessman who lost a child and he writes to time, love and death.
He has a depression so his three friends want to help him, because he start to ruin their company's future.
Instead of working he deals with domino stacking. Howard's friends decided to hire three actors.
They started to play love, time and death and talk with Howard. The actors also help friends.
One of them is scared, because he is dying, so he talk with death. Second of them has problems with daughter, so he talk with love. Third of them want to have a baby, so she talk with time. This is a beautiful film about pain, love, fight, faith and friendship.
Trailer below.

Eurovision

Hi today I want to tell you about Eurovision.
All of us know that this is a big contest of music, isn't it?
When eurovision is coming I always consider why songs for eurovision must be „eurovision songs”.
There was a lot of accidents when song was on the high level, but that wasn't „eurovision song” so it lose.
When I was young I was thinking that Eurovision is supposed to be a contest with music on the highest level,
with world class songs, but reality was different.
This year the winner of the eurovision song contest was Salvador Sobral with beautiful song, with a song on the highest level.
He is a young man from Portugal. This song named Amar Pelos Dois was written for him by his sister Luisa.
They performed this song together befor winning.
This song is simple, waith a message, with love and passsion.
Just listen.

Walk off the Earth

Hi! Today I want to tell you about Walk off the Earth.
This is a canadian indie-rock music band which creates covers of popular songs.
I found this band a few years ago and I felt in love with theitr music.
They make covers with unusual „instruments” and in extraordinary manner.
When I first time saw their video I was shocked that five people could play on one guitar.
That was totally amazing and thanks to this video they started to be popular.
In this group there's one special man – bearded guy!
He appears in unexpected moments with strange instrumet in every video.
Everyone always waits for him.

Below you can see a few of my favourite videos.

Fidget spinner

Hi today I want to tell you about fidget spinner.
Nowadays we have a lot of gadgets but some of them I can't uderstand.
Fidget spinner is a new toy, reportedly it is a stress-relieving toy. This toy can help you focus and de-stress.
Fidget spinner was invented in 90s but it became popular in this year.
On first sight this seems be useless, but if you think about it this can be usefull.
I have problem with stress when I'm talking and often I have something in my hands, a pen or something like that and it really help me focus, but I think that this gadget is to big and I wouldn't go with it to exam.
However this toy is very popular and people make tricks with it.
You can see a few below.

When I read about it I found something else and I think that this is better.
Fidget cube is smaller and this is a cube with „an on/off-style switch, gears, a rolling ball, a small joystick, a spinning disc, a rubbing pad, and depressible buttons”.
I think that I will buy something like this for my exams :D

Music, music, music!

When „sesja is coming” we do everything, cleaning, running, dancing and looking for a new music.
Last time when I learned for my exams, my friend showed me new music.
New music for me, because I never listened electronic music, for me that was something „not good” or just bad...
but when final exams are coming you can listen everything,
so I said "why not" and I felt in love Flume, Paces, new world was open for me.
That was great because, when I don't know a song I 'm not singing and I can focus on learning.
Are you expanding your horizons of music before final exams? What do you listen to ? What kind of music do you study to?
Below a few of my favourites songs.

Justin Timberlake

Hi today I want to tell you about one of my young love.

Everyone has one actor, musician, dancer or someone who is our love from childhood
and it doesn't matter that this star is good and popular now. It doesn't matter that it is shame nowadays.
Everyone has someone like that. Me too, but I'm not ashamed!
My love from childhood is Justin Timberlake and I still love him!
When I was young and I watched music channel on TV waiting for one song with Justin,
for one frame in which he stand on the circle scene with old microphone
and turn his hand singing what goes around...comes aroud, comes around.
That song was my love. Later he wrote a lot of very good songs, but i couldn't forget about the one from my past.
Below you can listen a few of my favourite ones..

Classroom instruments

Last time I told you about Lip Sync Battle.
Today I want to tell you about my second favourite part of The Tonight Show Starring with Jimmy Fallon.

In this part of show, Jimmy Fallon with the Roots and one of stars make something like cover of the song of the star.
The Roots is a band which is a music band in The Tonight Show. They are incredible!
When Jimmy Fallon host a star in his programme they close in the room with instruments like ukulele, glockenspiel,

melodica and tambourine and make a song one more time!

Below you can see one of my favourite with Ed Sheeran!

Lip Sync Battle

Hi! Today I want to tell you about Lip Sync Battle with Jimmy Fallon.

I think that all of you know Jimmy Fallon and his The Tonight Show.
He is an american actor singer, comedian and musician.
Every time when I watch his show I cry of joy.
But today i want to tell you about one part of his show named „Lip Sync Battle”.
Do you know what it is?
Two or more people fight with each other and they fake singing.
They chose a song and move mouth to the song from playback.

The winner is this one who „make” this song better.
The win is decided by the public.

I have one of my favourites Lip Sync Battle with Melissa McCarthy. Especially from 5.40
You can see this below!

This is a Brille smartwatch.

Hi! Today I want to tell you about something incredible!

All of us use new technologies and gadgets, which are useful or not in our life.
Last time Dot – South Korean developer has produced smartwatch for blind people,
but it's not like you would imagine You could think that this is a smartwatch
which is connected with a phone by Bluetooth
and which read an hour. NO!
This is a Brille smartwatch. It means that watch shows an hour by Braille's alphabet.
It has a lot of small buttons which jump and create the numbers.

Okay but why? Why people need a Brillle smartwatch if we have smartwatch which can read an hour?
Because blind people don't have to use headphones which drown surrounding sounds.
Below you can see the reactions to this watch!

Najprościej Mówiąc

Hi! Today I want to tell you about 'NAJPROŚCIEJ MÓWIĄC'

It's a show with two medical students, one camera operator and one mission to accomplish – show that medicine isn't boring.

Mikołaj and Marcin study medicine at Poznan University of Medical Science and Ryszard is their cameraman

They want to talk about medicine in a way that everyone can understand.

Medicine does not have to be boring and we want to show it as it really is.
Useful, logical, interesting and above all accessible to everyone.

And... they really do this! The first time I saw their video I couldn't stop laughing,

Below I will show you their video, enjoy!

Buckingham Palace

Today I want to tell you about Buckingham Palace.
I think everyone has heard about this building or has seen it on TV or in a TV series.
Buckingham Palace is the biggest royal palace in the world.
"The royal residence measures 108 metres by 120 metres. It's 24 metres high and contains over 77.000 m2 of floorspace.
There are 775 rooms, including 19 state rooms, 52 principal bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms.
The palace also has a post office, a cinema, a swimming pool, a doctor's surgery and a jeweller's workshop."
-Wikipedia

Buckingham Palace is one of the pearls of the Late Baroque. The history of the palace's site goes back to the Middle Ages,
but the first building was created at the beginning of XVIII century by William Winde.
The first building was called Buckingham House and it was built in 1705 for the Duke of Buckingham.
Buckingham House was composed of a central block and two smaller wings on either side.
It was a private mansion of the Duke and his family.

In 1761 a descendant of the Duke, Sir Charles Sheffield, put it on sale and its new owner was King George III.
He bought this house for 21.000 pounds (that's about 3 million pounds today).
The building was used as a private residence of his wife, Queen Charlotte. The house was also renamed The Queen's House.
In 1762 rebuilding work was started and it was later continued by King George IV.

In 1828 the King decided that he wanted a palace and not a small house. So he asked an architect called John Nash for help.
Nash retained the main block but doubled its size by adding a new suite of rooms on the garden side facing west.
The design of the external facades has been modeled on French neoclassicism, and they have been faced with mellow Bath stone.
In 1829 the renovation budget exceeded five hundred thousand pounds (40 million pounds today), and Nash was removed from the project.

In 1830 King Wilhelm IV claimed the throne, but he didn't finish the palace.
It's construction was finished under the reign of Queen Victoria. When she married Prince Albert,
he started renovation and reorganisation. He wanted to correct all of the mistakes made by his predecessors.

In 1847 the Queen decided that the Palace is too small for the royal court and her family so she decided to develop it even more.
New wings were added, as well as the part of the palace which is now the most famous - the one with the balcony from which the Royal Family greets their subjects. The last major work on the Buckingham Palace has taken place during the reign of Queen Victoria's grandson, King George V, in 1913. It covered the outside of the building.

my last post in this term :)

Hi everyone! This is my last post in this term.
I hope that you enjoyed reading my posts!

I need some ideas for the next term, so I have 10 questions for you!
If you recommend me something I will try to write about it during the next term :)

  1. What would you like to read about on my blog?
  2. What do you like to do when you have free time?
  3. What is your favourite place in Poznań?
  4. Who is your favouirte blogger?
  5. Who is your favourite YouTube vlogger?
  6. Which films should I see and why?
  7. Which TV series should I see and why?
  8. Which books should I read?
  9. Which musical do you like the most?
  10. What is your favourite food that I should try?

So my dears! Sesja is coming. I'm leaving you with Frank Sinatra. Be brave!

SESJA is coming!

Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you how you can prepare before studying, because SESJA IS COMING!

If you've already cleaned your flat, you can start to prepare, so...
1. Organize your notes.
I know that you have a million notebooks, folders and a lot of unorganised photocopies,
but take your time and divide everything into topics and subjects that you need to learn.
Count the amount of material and check the level of difficulty.

2. Make a calendar.
Consider how much time you will need to prepare good notes for each subject and how much time you will need to comprehend
the material in each subject. Later count how many days you have before exams and split the material into parts.

3. Use freeware programs.
If you have a lot of vocabulary to learn, use Quizlet and learn on the bus or on a tram, everywhere!
You can make a playlist on Fiszkoteka and listen to your vocabulary while you're running, sleeping or eating.

4. Food and drinks.
After preparing all of the materials and the learning plan, go to the kitchen and make some healthy snacks like pieces of oranges
and apples, a few (A FEW) pieces of chocolate, nuts, almonds etc. Make sure to prepare some drinks like water,
tea or a healthy cocktail. This will give you a lot of vitamins and energy.

5. Prepare your workplace.
Position your chair and lights correctly. Keep a blanket close to you – it may be helpful when you finally break down crying
and will need to hug something. Prepare notes to learn from, some blank paper or a notebook and also some colored highlighters.

6. Music and actual studying
Turn the music on quietly, which aids in learning. Then start to study.
Mark information which is important or which you don't understand and cross out the unnecessary parts.

Repeat the acquired material often and don't give up!

You know what.

We all know this time when we start to notice the dust on the wardrobe,
under the wardrobe, in the wardrobe and on each tiny area of our room.

Later we start to see our mess in the closet, in the drawers and on the desk.
So we decide to clean everything, even the leaves of the flowers.

Once we have cleaned all that jazz in our room, we suddenly remember that we have a kitchen,
bathroom, corridor and a balcony and we have to clean them immediately.
We spend hours searching for an area to wash.

When we have cleaned the whole apartment along with the windows, we get very hungry.
We open the fridge, but there's nothing good to eat there, so we go shopping.

When we have visited a shop and read every label... at this moment we recall that there are more shops in the neighborhood!
So again we spent hours on reading labels.
Then the time comes when the shop is closing, so we run to the cash register and we get rid of all the spare change.

Later we come back to the house (taking the longer route of course!) and we make meals for 163,863,021 days.
After all this we have to clean the kitchen one more time. We are very tired, so we must have some time to relax!
We browse the internet in search of a movie or a very long TV series. We have to see every single episode. This is our obligation!
We finish our TV series, which takes us a few days. We then have to exercise, because in a sound body a sound mind!

But... we cheat ourselves. 'Sesja' is coming! So get to work! You can do it! Believe in yourself!
In the next post I will show you several tips on how to survive the exams!

All the GIFs are from giphy application from facebook :)

HAMILTON!

Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you that I'm going to London! :)
It's nothing exciting, but... I'm going to see HAMILTON on the West End! :D
Dreams do come true :D

Hamilton is an American Broadway musical which I love.
Normally, when I listen to music I like one song for a week and later I'm bored with it.
But I've been listening to Hamilton for one year and it's magical. I never liked rap and hip-hop but Hamilton is incredible.
I know every song in this musical and I'm going to see it live with my own eyes in April 2018.
I'm so happy and today I want to tell you about several places which I want to see when I will be in London.

West End
I always dreamed that one day I will be there, because there are a lot of best musicals
which I love and of course London is closer than New York or Chicago.
So when I heard that Hamilton will be playing in London I had to buy tickets!

The second place is Madame Tussauds wax museum.
I heard a lot about this museum and I always wanted to see those wax figures.
I think that it can be a really interesting experience :P
Writing this reminded me of a film in wich Ewa Farna pretends to be a wax figure. Did you see it?

The third place is the Natural History Museum.
I heard that this is a very interesting museum, because of a lot of exhibitions.
I simply have to see it, because I love nature and history :D

The fourth place is the Buckingham Palace.
I love historical TV series and films. I'm watching a lot of them. I especially like films about the Royal Family like 'The King's Speech' about George VI or the new TV series 'The Crown' about Queen Elizabeth II. I watched this TV series over the course of two days.
It's amazing because it shows how Elizabeth had to change and how her husband reacted.

Do you have your favourite places in London which I should see?
Let me know!
